GCR launches Recycling Plant in Barcelona and prepares to unveil new product innovations at K 2025

We’ve expanded our industrial recycling capabilities with the launch of the Castellet Recycling Plant, one of Europe’s most advanced plastic recycling facilities. Located in Castellet i la Gornal (Barcelona), the plant reinforces our long-term commitment to accelerating circularity at scale.
With an annual capacity of over 100,000 tons of post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyolefins and 30,000 tons of pre-consumer recycled materials, the Castellet Recycling Plant integrates state-of-the-art technologies, including EREMA processing lines, TOMRA optical sorters, and one of Europe’s largest hot washing systems. In-house laboratories, deodorization systems, and a closed-loop water circuit ensure high material consistency and minimal environmental impact.
This strategic investment strengthens our ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality recycled materials in industrial applications — while helping manufacturers reduce their carbon footprint and meet recycled content targets.
Our Castellet Recycling Plant, also sets the stage for our upcoming showcase at K 2025, where we will unveil new developments under our CICLIC® brand — a line of certified PCR polyolefins with performance comparable to virgin materials, ready to re-enter the value chain without compromising performance, scale, or brand reputation.
We are also preparing the official launch of a new company and brand, focused on delivering high-performance recycled plastic compounds for the automotive and appliance sectors — top engineering solutions for OEMs and TIERs looking to integrate sustainable materials without compromising technical performance or reliability.
These developments are backed by our Innovation Hub, home to a team of over 50 specialists and more than €10 million invested in replicating real production processes. The Hub includes pilot-scale lines for multilayer extrusion, cast and blown film, pipe extrusion, compounding, and injection molding — enabling close collaboration with customers to co-develop tailored materials.
Meanwhile, we continue to expand our GRANIC® line of sustainable mineral masterbatches, produced at our facility in La Bisbal del Penedès (Tarragona). Designed to reduce polymer use and lower CO₂ emissions while maintaining functionality, GRANIC® supports a wide range of industries in meeting their performance and sustainability objectives.
As the industry prepares for K 2025, we’re ready to show that we bring more than solutions — we bring clarity, scale, and collaboration to solve the challenges that matter most.
