GCR Supports the Strategy for a Circular, Competitive and Climate-Neutral Plastics Industry in Spain

At GCR, we proudly support the new initiative by EsPlásticos, the national platform uniting Spain’s plastics value chain — from producers and recyclers to converters and technology centers. Backed by founding members such as as AIMPLAS, ANAIP and Plastics Europe, EsPlásticos plays a key role in promoting collaboration and shared responsibility across the industry.
In 2025, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, EsPlásticos presented the first-ever Strategy of the Spanish Plastics Industry — a landmark document that reflects the sector’s commitment to becoming circular and climate-neutral by 2050.
This strategic roadmap is built on five core pillars designed to drive real transformation:
- Innovation, to develop new materials and more efficient processes
- Circularity, to maximize recycling and minimize waste
- Climate neutrality, to reduce emissions and fossil dependency
- Competitiveness, to strengthen industrial growth and job creation
- Regulatory alignment and collaboration, to enable systemic change
At GCR, we believe plastics are essential to building a sustainable and decarbonized future. From medical breakthroughs and food safety to renewable energy and lightweight mobility, plastics are embedded in every critical transition.
Thanks to innovation and advancements in recycling — including the evolution of mechanical processes — plastics can now have more than one life. They enable traceable, high-quality materials that reduce reliance on virgin resources, support climate goals, and scale circular solutions.
At GCR, we contribute to this transition through our expertise in industrial-scale mechanical recycling, delivering sustainable and consistent plastic solutions across multiple sectors.
Still, accelerating this transition requires collective action: expanding post-consumer recycled content, improving recyclability, ensuring traceability, and investing in high-efficiency, recycling infrastructure.
We invite you to explore the full strategy and join the movement to position plastics as part of the solution.
